Vintage Shoot

There's nothing I love to do than to shoot a vintage theme. It's even more fun when you're doing it with a great friend. This was another one of my photography assignments that I did for Photography 101. The goal was to do portraits both outside and indoors.
(THESE WERE SHOT WITH 35mm BLACK AND WHITE FILM, BTW.)

I love the details in this, and the fact it doesn't distract from the subject of the photo. The vintage bags were a great perk too.

The great thing about growing up in the High Desert is the location. It has a lot of beautiful, organic places. It has everything from deserts to forests to urban...ness. I shot these portraits in Hesperia, which mostly has desert but this long road is found near Ashlynn's house. It was within walking distance.

Ashlynn's smolder.

My model this time was Ashylnn Heywood. I've known Ashlynn for a very long time. We met at church and were in the same ward until her family moved to Hesperia. She's very quirky, beautiful and energetic. She's also very talented in photography, and you can find her on instagram here: http://instagram.com/heyshlynn

This is my favorite. When you don't look at the camera, you're at your most natural. It's the focus of humanism photography, to capture people at their natural state. This is Ashlynn Heywood. A beautiful woodland creature.

I decided to do a vintage theme and to accentuate natural beauty. With Ashlynn (and every model I've ever worked with), she believes that she's not pretty, or in any instance beautiful. This is totally and completely false. Even though the term 'beauty' is subjective and relevant, I like to think of 'beauty' as a merging of both personality and appearance. When a person reflects that serenity of personality and appearance, they really do shine. Though Ashlynn is very modest and won't admit it, she's reached this serenity.

It's wonderful to capture that awesomeness within a person. She's the kind of person I admire because she's always herself and has no shame about it. I wish I could exude that kind of confidence and I am in awe every time I hang out with her. But nevertheless, Ashlynn is, in fact, a very beautiful person. As evidenced in this post.

I shot these indoor portraits at Ashlynn's house.
Lovely, lovely woman.
