“The streetlight outside my house shines on tonight and I'm watching it likeit could give me a vision.
James ain't talked ever and he looks at that streetlight like it was a word and maybe like it was a verb.
James wanted to streetlight me and make me bright and beautiful so all the moths and bats would circle me like I was the center of the world and held secrets.”
For this recent Spring semester, I took another production class called Directing Film/TV. This was one of the most stressful projects that I have ever filmed, simply because a lot of things went wrong in both pre and post production. However, I am very proud of this piece because of how much I had to adapt and be resourceful.
This story is based off a short two page script given to me by my professor. The dialogue is not mine, however, the story surrounding it is original. It explores the implications of affairs between close friends.
I really liked the idea of having the main female character be a horse trainer/breeder and the idea that she can train horses but she can't train men or herself. She ends up hurting other people around her.
One of the few things that went wrong was that it was particularly windy in the desert. So my sound was not going to be good at all if I shot outside. So I moved the entire scene from outside to a shelter/barn. This is my favorite happening simply because it made EVERYTHING completely better. The lighting, the sound, the acting, etc.
